1. Overview

scAIne (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a Shopify application that generates AI product photography for Shopify merchants. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a merchant or user of our app.

2. Data We Collect

When you install scAIne, we collect and store the following merchant data:

  • Shop domain — your Shopify store URL (e.g. yourstore.myshopify.com)
  • Access token — a Shopify-issued token used to read your products and upload generated images on your behalf
  • Subscription plan — which pricing plan you are on and your credit usage
  • Product images — URLs of product images you select as a base for generation (we do not store the original images, only the URL)
  • Generated images — AI-generated images produced by the app, stored so you can access them in your generation history

We do not collect any personal data about your customers. We have no access to customer names, emails, addresses, or order data.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To authenticate your Shopify store and maintain your session
  • To read your product catalogue so you can select products for image generation
  • To upload AI-generated images directly to your Shopify product
  • To track your credit usage and apply billing limits based on your plan
  • To display your generation history inside the app

4. Third-Party Services

To generate images, we send your selected product image URL to the following AI providers:

  • fal.ai — image generation
  • Anthropic Claude — product type analysis

These providers process images solely to return a generated result. We do not share your shop domain, access token, or any merchant identity with these providers.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as scAIne is installed on your store. When you uninstall the app, all data associated with your store — including your access token, generated images, and job history — is permanently deleted from our database within 48 hours.

6. Your Rights

As a merchant, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about your store
  • Deletion — request that we delete all your data (or simply uninstall the app)
  • Portability — request your data in a portable format

7. Security

All data is stored in an encrypted PostgreSQL database. Communication between our app and Shopify is secured via HTTPS. Shopify webhook payloads are verified using HMAC-SHA256 before any data is processed.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
